Affordable Housing Land Trust

The Affordable Housing Land Trust Act (AHLT Act) was signed into law in 2010. See Maryland Annotated Code, Real Property § 14-501.

Affordable housing land trust is an entity that provides affordable housing to low-income and moderate-income families through an affordable housing land trust agreement; and is organized or managed by a nonprofit organization that buys land on behalf of a community and holds it in trust. Each affordable housing land trust in Maryland must register its creation with the State Department of Assessments and Taxation on the Affordable Housing Land Trust form.

The affordable housing land trust must submit updates relating to its organization, tax status, address, officers, and any other information as required by the Department. The Department is not responsible for the accuracy of the contents of any registration or of the accuracy or completeness of the online list of Affordable Housing Land Trust registered with the Department:
